(watercolor brushes- not oil paint brushes, which have different size designations)
Synthetic or natural hairs:
1 inch flat or bright
#5 round
#12 round
PALETTE
Any plastic palette with a cover and a large, unsectioned mixing area.
Recommended- John Pike Palette (regular or Big Well)
PAINTS
Tube transparent watercolors are recommended. However cake watercolors are okay if you prefer. Student grade watercolors recommended are:
Van Gogh or Winsor-Newton Cotman- brand names can be mixed.
(Paints to be placed in palette paint wells in order of listings)

Ultramarine Blue
Cobalt Blue
Cerulean Blue
Pthalo Green (called Winsor Green if buying Winsor-Newton)
Olive Green (not available by all manufactures)
Cobalt Violet
Alizarin Crimson
Cadmium Red Scarlet or Cadmium Red Light
Cadmium Orange
Raw Sienna
Raw Umber
Cadmium Lemon or Cadmium Yellow Light

PAPER-
D’arches 140 lbs cold press
3 Full sheets 22x30 (must be “stretched” see below)
or
Watercolor block 16x20 (no stretching needed)
Stretching Watercolor Paper:
Submerge watercolor paper in water until thoroughly soaked (approx 5 min). Remove from water and place on “Gatorboard”. Blot up excess water with paper towel. Staple edges of paper every 2-3 inches apart. Allow to dry (approx 10 min).
